Blackwork Caul - Lattice

This caul is made from shirt weight white linen and black Madeira silk thread. The design is original, but based on various examples of period embroidery. The design is a lattice pattern filled with spot motifs. The spot motifs are taken from period extant items and pattern books. The intersections of the lattice are embellished with small, freshwater pearls.

This design is a one off and will not be made again.

As with all our blackwork items, this caul is washable. NOTE: Care should be taken with this item because of the pearls. Choose an appropriate washing aid or remove the pearls for washing.
